CLOSER THAN EVER
UNITED STATES & PACIFIC DOMINIONS COLONEL KNOX BROADCASTS. ANZAC DAY GREETINGS. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) (Received This Day, 12.20 p.m.) WASHINGTON, April 23. and New Zealand will be closer than ever to America when the present struggle for survival is over,” said Colonel Knox (Secretary for the Navy), broadcasting Anzac Day greetings from America. The three countries, Colonel Knox said, shared the same philosophy, but had not sought to force it on other . peoples. “Our kinship is sealed not so much by the blood flowing in our veins as by the blood spilled together,” he went on to declare. The men who landed on Gallipoli hoped that their action would result in the destruction of Prussian militarism. But we were content, when we thought it was whipped, to allow it to gain double strength and ally itself with the militarists of Italy and Japan and attack us once more. It shan’t happen again. We won’t make the same mistake. This time our Allied fraternity shall see that the name Pacific is no mockery.”
