HOSPITAL FACILITIES

TREATMENT OF SOLDIERS MISUNDERSTANDINGS REMOVED. STATEMENT BY DR. PARR. The following statement was made by the Medical Superintendent of the Masterton Hospital (Dr. T. L. Parr) at the meeting of the Wairarapa Hospital Board yesterday: — “The Assistant Area Officer (Lieutenant G. R. Jackson) has protested to me against remarks, made by me at the March meeting of the board in connection with a letter he wrote to the Health Department about out-patient facilities for Army patients. I have discussed the matter with him, and cleared up several misunderstandings, and wish to assure the board that there is really no friction between our Departments at all, and difficulties that have arisen in co-ordinating our functions have their origin in circumstances outside his personal control. I would like to correct any impression that there is any personal ill-feeling or any personal obstruction to smooth cooperation between our Departments.” It was decided to send a copy of Dr. Parr’s letter to the Department of Health.

“The letter sent by Lieutenant Jackson to the Department of Health was uncalled for,” observed Mrs S. Fletcher. “It would have been better for Lieutenant Jackson to have approached us rather than the Department,” said Mr H. H. Mawley ((chairman).
