SUFFERED BV GERMANS IN BATTLES IN KUBAN AREA. LARGE FORCES THROWN IN. The war in Russia is still fiercest in the much-disputed Kuban bridgehead area, in the Caucasus. The enemy now has at least ten divisions on this front, some of them Germans and the rest Rumanians. Enemy attacks are being made with a view not only to iecapturing some of the high points, but also to anticipating any Soviet move to drive the Axis from Novorossisk into the Black Sea. So far the sway of the battle has gone in favour of the Russians. The enemy lost a battalion of infantry last night, as well as six tanks.
