PIRINOA

TRIBAL COMMITTEE EUCHRE PARTY AND DANCE. (“Times-Age” Special.) There was a large attendance at the Kahutara Hall on Tuesday night when the Pukio Tribal Committee held a euchre and dance in aid of the Maori War Effort. The chairman, Mr Jack Nunn, and the secretary, Miss Georgina Enoka, who were assisted bj r an energetic committee, are to be congratulated on the success of their efforts. Members of the Pirinoa Tribal Committee assisted in giving hakas, poi dances and musical items. The Fukio juveniles also rendered most enjoyable vocal items. The euchre prizes were won by Mrs Watson, Pirinoa (ladies) and Mr Joe Riwai (men). Other prizes were won by Mrs Sutton (Pirinoa), Miss Frew and Messrs E. Edwards and A. Feast. For the dancing excellent music was provided by Mr Te Maari’s Orchestra. Miss Marshall and Mr Juno won the Monte Carlo, and Miss M. Tocker and partner the statue waltz. Mr R. Halidone was an efficient M.C. The supper provided was much appreciated and reflected great credit, on those responsible for the arrangements. Miss Enoka returned thanks to all those who voluntary assisted, in making the gathering the success it was. Personal Items. Mr and Mrs R. Matenga have returned from a holiday spent at Otaki. Mr and Mrs Roiri, Otaki; are the guests of Mr and Mrs Matenga, Mangatete. •Mr Gordon Mclssac, manager of the Dehydrated Butter Department, Auckland, was a visitor to Pirinoa for a few days. Mr Mclssac was formerly first assistant at the local cheese factory. Mr Lovegrove, Lower Hutt, was the guest of Mr and Mrs Lovegrove, for a few days. Mrs J. Carter and her daughter are spending the Easter holidays at Hastings.
