W.W.S.A. UNIT

ir- - — -“Wijraß ROUTE MARCH LAST 'NIGHT.

PREPARATION FOR ANZAC DAY PARADE.

The Masterton unit of the Women's War Service Auxiliary held a *route march last night under the direction of the Divisional Commanding 'Officer, Mrs A. Whittaker, in preparation for a parade on Anzac Day. All members of the unit looked smart in their new khaki uniforms. The officers and n.c.o’s. have completed a strenuous examination and' will take their respective places in army infantry drill. The transport section girls will also be trained in transport drill, and will be able to handle light and heavy vehicles. They will complete their training with a course in first aid. The signalling section is well on its way in Morse and lamp reading and it also will take a first aid course.

Mrs Whittaker says her work in Masterton has been purely voluntary. She states she is happy to think she has received something in return for (her many hours spent in procuring for Masterton a fine body of girls and women who are ready to do their duty to their home town in case of emer-' gency. She has been the recruiting officer in Masterton for Army, Navy and Air Force girls and has received many letters from the girls thanking her for the happiness she has brought them. She points out that her duties do not include responsibility for seeing that all girls within the specified age limits are registered or not under the compulsory registration regulations.
