LEAVE ALLOWANCE

APPRECIATED BY SOLDIERS IN MIDDLE EAST.

(NZEF Official News Service.) CAIRO, April 19. Though perhaps regarded as a “burnt offering,” the 3s a day now allowed men, on leave from the N.Z.E.F. is greatly appreciated. Troops in the Middle East, after three years in this war zone, are participating in occasional leave. The subsistence allowance which became available on April 1, though not payable for leave under 48 hours, is a welcome addition to the paybook savings of men of the division, who have been engaged with the Eighth Army in the desert for almost a year without leave.
