WEDDING KING—GALLAGHER. ("Times-Age” Special.) The Methodist Church, Eketahuna, was beautifully decorated with spring flowers for the marriage recently of Grace Agnes, only daughter’ of Mr and Mrs B. R. Gallagher, to Henry Donald, eldest son of Mr and the late Mrs H. B. King, of Wellington. The Rev. I. K. ■Hopper officiated. The bride, who was escorted by her father, was attired in a classical trained gown of white satin, heavily embroidered. She carried a shower bouquet of white nerines, carnations and maidenhair fern. Miss Margot Capes and' Miss Fay Ross (cousins) were bridesmaids, and wore frocks of mauve georgette. The skirts were sun-ray pleated. They wore head-dresses to tone and carried bouquets of carnations and maidenhair fern. Two little flower girls, Alyson Carter (cousin) and Ann Preston were dressed in lilac pink georgette frocks, with bandeaus of pink flowers on their heads to tone. They carried baskets of lilac pink flowers. Mr Bruce Gifford (cousin) was best man, and Mr Allan King (brother) groomsman. Miss Muriel Smith (organist) sang a solo during the signing of the register. A horse-shoe of white satin was handed to the bride by little Judith Carter (cousin) when leaving the church. Mr and Mrs Gallagher entertained a large number of guests in the Odd Fellows’ Hall. The bride’s mother wore a navy blue corded satin-backed marocain ensemble, heavily embroidered in gold and green. Miss E. Ward, of Te Aroha, sang two solos during the reception. She was accompanied by Mrs Barrett, of Petone. The usual toasts were honoured. The bride wore a quilted powderblue frock, embroidered in tones of navy, red and gold, as her going-away frock. The honeymoon was spent in the South Island. Among those present were Mr 'and Mrs J. Carter and family (Lower Hutt), Miss Gladys Farmer, Mrs Williamson, Mrs and Miss Cook, Mr and Mrs Flan, Mr and Mrs H. King, Mrs Barrett, Miss R. Gifford, Miss B'. King (Wellington), Mr and Mrs Ross and family (Greytown), Miss V. Irwin (Carterton), Mrs N. Eastwood and Mr B. Eastwood, Miss E. Ward (Te Aroha), Mr and Mrs W. Duff ,and Mrs H. Duff (Hastings), Mrs G. A. Farmer (Te Puke), Mrs R. V. and D. O’Brien, Mr, Mrs and Miss (Pahiatua), and Mrs G. Edmonds (Palmerston North). RED CROSS SOCIETY CARD PARTY. The Red Cross Society held a flag 500 party in the Anglican Hall on Saturday night. The games were conducted by Mrs D. Oliphant. The winners were: —Ladies, Mesdames Edwards and B. Oliver; men, Messrs D. Butcher and R. W. Petherick. The hostesses were Mesdames Wattereus and Rasmussen. Personal Items. Mr and Mrs P. Fauvel have received word that their son, Private Keith Fauvel, has been seriously in the head. Mrs and Miss Earl, Hamilton, are the guests of Mrs Fauvel, Alfredton Road. Miss Moir, Taradale, is the guest of Mrs Gallagher, Stanley Street. Sale of Poppies. There was a record sale of poppies in Eketahuna last Thursday. One hundred more than usual were disposed of, but many more could have been sold. Earthquakes. Several severe shocks of earthquake have been felt recently in Eketahuna.
