SENTENCE ON ASSASSIN OF TROTSKY. IMPRISONMENT FOR TWENTY YEARS. (By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright) NEW YORK, April 17. Jacques Mornard, alias Frank Jackson, the assassin of Trotsky, was sentence to 20 years’ imprisonrhent. Mornard pleaded that he acted in selfdefence. He admitted striking Trotsky with an alpine axe in the course of a heated political quarrel on August 20, 1940. The verdict failed to establish that Mornard was an Ogpu agent. His identity remains a mystery and his nationality is unknown, says the “New York Times” Mexico City correspondent. Mornard was supplied with plenty of money throughout his imprisonment from unknown sources.
