An Indian communique states: “On the Arakan front yesterday our troops successfully ambushed two parties of Japanese in the Mayu hills and inflicted casualties. Our forces have consolidated forward positions covering the approaches to the MaungdawButidaung area. “Aircraft patrolling, by both sides, continues, and enemy troop positions on the Mayu ridge were attacked by our aircraft, which also bombed Japanese aerodromes and ma-chine-gunned gun emplacements and enemy transport.”
