STATE THEATRE

“FRIENDLY ENEMIES” “Friendly Enemies,” the United Artists production which will bo screened tonight at the State Theatre, is entertainment of a high class. For one thing, it is topical, and for another, it' serves to present Charles Ruggles and Charlies Winninger in roles which might have been made for them. Wartime conditions and man-power demands have had their effect on Hollywood probably as much as anywhere else,,and if the result is to bring an increasing number of the older stars back to prominence, few film fans will complain. Humour, tension, thrills, and romance are nicely blended in this story of German Americans resident in New York and their reaction to the war. There is acting par excellence by all concerned, and these include an attractive romantic pair in James Craig and Nancy Kelly. Mastertonians. as well as American servicemen, will enjoy “Friendly Enemies.” The supports include several particularly .interesting pictures.
