BOY SCOUTS ENJOYABLE CARD PARTY. (“Times-Age” Special.) The Boy Scouts Committee held a card tournament in the Red Shield Hut. There was a good attendance and a very enjoyable time was spent. The winners were:— Ladies: Mesdames Pauling and O’Reiley. Men; Messrs Wadham and Herdman. LEAGUE OF MOTHERS MONTHLY MEETING. Mrs R. H. Every presided over a good attendance at the monthly meeting of the League of Mothers yesterday. Two new members were enrolled. Two solos by Mrs Johnston were greatly appreciated. Mrs L. Hunt played the accompaniments. It was announced that Mesdames Ingley and Williams would make the wreath for Anzac Day. Mr R. Darrock, secretary of the Navy League, Wellington, gave an interesting address on the work of the League. On behalf of the members present, Mrs Every thanked Mi’ Darroch for his address. At the annual meeting of the Carterton branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union the election of officers resulted as follows: —President, Mrs Maitland; vice-presidents, Mesdames K. Reid, H. R. Renall, H. Hodder, D. Walsh and Standen; secre-

tary, Mrs K. Hodder; treasurer, Miss Arcus; advisory members, Mesdames Swan, McKenzie, Hodder, Miss Thompson; delegates to provincial council, Mesdames McKenzie and Swan; committee, Mesdames Allen, Hall, Earl, McLean, Bambry, Abbott, Foreman, Couper and Card; tea secretary, Mrs Archer; press secretary, Mrs Standen. It was decided to hold the eleventh birthday of the branch in June. Earthquakes. ■ Carterton experienced sharp earthi quakes last evening at 5.30 o’clock and 5.50 o’clock. REGENT THEATRE EXCELLENT PROGRAMME. “Invitation to a Murder’ (a thrilling drama) and “Hellzapoppin” .(an outstanding comedy) will be finally shown tonight.
