The annual report of the Wairarapa centre of the New Zealand Red Cross Society made special mention of the generosity of Mr C. H. Spiers, who has placed his rooms, at the disposal of the society for the duration of the war. Thanks were also expressed to those workers who had made 5090 articles for hospital supplies, 511 woollen garments, 699 garments for distress relief, including 694 pairs of pyjamas, 123 dressing gowns, 15 orderlies’ gowns and 742 yards of material made into bandages.
