Great Concentration of Naval and Air Forces STATEMENT BY HEADQUARTERS SPOKESMAN MR STIMSON PROMISES CONSTANT FLOW OF PLANES LQNDON, April 15. . Mr Stimson, United States Secretary for War, speaking in Washington, said the South-West Pacific area was constantly kept in mind. An increasing flow of supplies, particularly aircraft, would be sent there. “A great Japanese combat fleet is constantly being maintained at Truk, in the Caroline Islands area, where the enemy has a large naval base, ’ ’ stated General MacArthur’s spokesman today. His declaration, reported by a special Australian correspondent, follows yesterday’s statement by General MacArthur that if the Allies lost air control in the South-West Pacific the Japanese naval forces “beyond our bomber line’’ would be able to convoy transports in a further southward drive.
