Child Kicked by Horse

Lance Malcolm, a child aged years, of Waihakeke, Carterton, who was kicked by a horse, was admitted to the Masterton Hospital last night with head injuries. His condition is satisfactory. Persons making payment of chimney repair accounts at the Masterton Borough Office are requested to present the original accounts printed on the red forms, so that a receipt may be imprinted thereon by cash register. Used Postage Stamps Wanted. The fact that the Ladies’ Auxiliary of the Methodist Church had raised £4OO last year in aid of Mission funds by the sale of used postage stamps, was mentioned by the Rev. A. H. Voyce in addressing members of the Methodist Men’s Fellowship last evening. Mr Voyce appealed to members to save used postage stamps towards that end. He indicated that the Centennial l|d and id stamps were particularly useful. Dr. N. H. Prior offered a prize of a book to the member who collected the most valuable assortment of used stamps in time for the next meeting in July next. Home Guard Road Blocks.

A complaint that although he had brought up the matter of the Home Guard road blocks on County roads as being obstructions some months ago, no action had been taken to have them removed, was made ‘by Councillor J. W. Colquhoun at yesterday afternoon’s meeting of the Masterton County Council.- The Clerk, Mr J. C. D. Mackley, said that he had personally interviewed the Home Guard authorities some time ago, and had been assured that the matter would be looked into. Councillor Colquhoun said that nothing had been done, and he considered that the council should do the job and charge the cost to the Home Guard. The matter was left in the hands of the Clerk.
