GOLDEN WEDDING
CHAPMAN—WILTON, 1893-1943. A very pleasant gathering was held on Monday at the home of Mr and Mrs F. R. Chapman, of Kaituna, it being the occasion of their golden wedding. Mr and Mrs Chapman have lived in the Masterton. district all their lives, and were for many years residents of Bideford. A beautiful wedding cake, made by Mrs E. Chapman was cut by the “bride,” aided by the “groom” and both were heartily toasted by those present. Amongst those present were Mr and Mrs A. V. Thirkell (Dannevirke), Mt and Mrs G. Duff (Dannevirke), Mr and ’Mrs E. Chapman (Dannevirke), Mr A. Chapman (Woodville), Mr and Mrs S. C. Chapman (Levin), and Mr and Mrs F. S. Chapman (Glendonald). The only member of their family not present was Pte. D. J. Chapman, .who is with the armed forces in the Middle East. Ten grandchildren were present. Another three are serving with the armed forces. Mr and Mrs Chapman were the recipients of many congratulatory messages, and numerous gifts.
