STATE THEATRE
“NEW WINE” One of the most outstanding musical films ever brought to the screen will be shown tonight. It is “New Wine” and it teems with magnificent music and is set amid beautiful scenes. It is a picture which will appeal immediately -to those who appreciate music of a high standard and acting that could not be surpassed on the screen. There is a pretty, romantic story interwoven with colourful music, the whole making a setting that particular patrons appreciate. It is certainly a picture which should not be missed by those to whom the best of music and acting appeals. The beautiful singing star of “Balalaika,” ‘ Ilona Massey, has the leading role, and she sings in a manner which will captivate all hearts. Alan Curtis and Binnie Barnes are also excellently placed. Miss Massey brilliantly renders “Serenade,” “Ave Maria” and “Impatience,” while a musical climax is reached in Schubert’s “Unfinished Melody.”
