WOMEN’S INSTITUTE COMPETITION WINNERS. ("Times-Age” Special.) The monthly meeting of the Nireaha Women’s Institute was presided over by Mrs Terry, who welcomed two new members, Mesdames W. J. Houston and A. Houston. Letters of appreciation for parcels of biscuits were received from Driver G. Terry and Pte. J. Payne. Arrangements were made for the purchasing and packing of three parcels. Members were asked to help to arrange floral emblems at the Memorial Library on Easter Saturday prior to th« Anzac service. The sum of £1 6s 3d was realised by the auctioning of produce for the Soldiers’ Parcel Fund. An interesting travel talk was given by Nurse Dorsett, of Eketahuna. Mrs Terry presented two silver miniature cups which had been donated by Mr Petersen for the points prize for vegetables and blooms, to the winners, Mrs Hawkins and Mrs Petersen, respectively. The industrial prize for the year was won by Mesdames Terry and J. Drysdale, who tied for first place. Competition winners for the month were: —Apron made from a flour bag: Mrs Terry 1, Mrs Drysdale 2, Mrs Petersen 3. Walnut loaf: Mrs Adams 1, Mrs J. Drysdale 2 and 3. Vegetable: Mrs J. Drysdale 1, Mrs Terry 2, Mrs Hawkins 3. Large bloom: Mrs Petersen 1, Mrs W. Drysdale 2, Mrs Petersen 3. Small bloom: Mrs J. Drysdale 1, Mrs Thomasen 2, Mrs Petersen 3. The hostesses were Mesdames O’Neil and W. W. Drysdale. Next month’s competitions will be: 21b. jam, jar of autumn foliage and berries,. 3 pikelets, vegetables and blooms.
