CARTERTON

TENNIS CLUB Reason closed. (“Times-Age” Special.) On Saturday afternoon the official closing of the season by the Carterton Lawn Tennis Club took place, when a. match between teams selected by the captain (Mr Worsfold) and the president (Mr Roydhouse) was played, resulting in a win for the captain’s team. Mr Roydhouse complimented the club players on their successful season, and presented the trophies won at the club competitions. - The winners were: Men’s senior championship, Mr M. Worsfold; ladies’ senior championship, Miss E. T. Peters; men’s handicap doubles, Mr D. L. Taverner and Mr E. Dyer; ladies’ handicap doubles, Miss.E. Newbold and Mrs H. Parker; combined handicap doubles, Mrs G. Steffert and Mr R. Andrews. The State Theatre was filled on Saturday night when the Carterton Lawn Tennis Club held a dance. The music was supplied by Mr T. Udy’s Orchestra. Mr Tom Udy played an extra. Mr M. Worsfold was an efficient M.C. Personal. Mrs P. J. Cotter, who has been the guest of Mrs E. R. Clapp, Belvedere Street, for the past fortnight, has returned to Wellington. Earthquake, A sharp earthquake was felt in Carterton in the early hours of Sunday morning. REGENT THEATRE DOUBLE PROGRAMME.

The two big features, “Twin Beds” and “Give Out Sisters,” will be finally shown tonight.
