HOMING PIGEONS
MASTERTON CLUB. RACES FROM WAIPAWA AND HASTINGS. The Masterton Homing Pigeon Club held two races at the weekend, one being from Waipawa, an airline distance of 85 miles, and the other a “single toss’ from Hastings, an airline distance of 110 miles. The weather for the Waipawa race was overcast and showery and for the Hastings race there was a fine day with a strong north-westerly wind. The following were the results: — From Waipawa: Grant & Forrester’s Gay Genet (time, 3hrs 51min 54sec) 1; A. Pinkney’s Flying Ace (3hrs 53min 49sec.), 2; Stewart & Son’s Imperium Queen (3hrs 54min 53sec.) 3; Stewart & Son’s Windy Weather (3hrs 55min 53sec.) 4; A. Pinkney’s Black Robe (3hrs 56min 59sec), 5; W. Drury’s Waco (3hrs 57min 54sec), 6. From Hastings: Only two birds finished: A. Pinkney’s Little Wonder (3hrs 54min 32sec.) 1; L. Wickens’s Ariel Son (4hrs 15min 48sec) 2. The following are the positions of competitors in connection with the points prize: Stewart & Son, 54 points, 1; Grant & Forrester 51 points, 2; A. Pinkney, 48 points, 3. The next race will be from Wairoa, an airline distance of 165 miles, for the Neil Harding Cup.
