PARK CLUB COMPETITION RESULTS. PAIRS TO DUCKWORTH AND JENKINS. A decided change in the weather found the greens at the Masterton Park little used during the past week, but it was decided to finalise some of the championship games, in view of the closing of the green on April 10: Champion pairs, final: H. Duckworth and R. Jenkins beat E. Brown and H. Smith, 23/16. The first half of the game was very evenly contested, the board reading 9 all on the 11th end. The winning pair were drawing well under the difficult conditions, and throughout the game there was some really good bowling. Champion singles, semi-final: H. Smith defeated A. Kilgour 22/11. Again the conditions were not ideal. Smith will now meet R. Simpson in the final. Handicap singles, final: G. Brown beat A. Osborne 20/15 after a very evenly contested game, each playerdrawing well. During the weekend seven fours from the Masterton Club visited the Park, and a most enjoyable time was spent. The weather proved ideal, and the green was in first class order. These inter-club visits are proving very popular, and have produced some very keen bowling. The visitors were welcomed by Mr H. M. Smith, vicepresident of the club, Mr Thomas, president of the Masterton Club, replying. One game of 25 ends was played, and again the Masterton players proved victorious by 4 games (156 points) to 3 games (149. points At the afternoon tea adjournment opportunity was taken to make a presentation to Mrs Andrews for the splendid assistance she has rendered during the season. In making the presentation, the president, Mr A. Osborne, thanked Mrs Andrews and her daughters for their help, and assured them it was greatly appreciated. Mr W. Drummond ,on behalf of the Social Committee, also added his thanks, after which the traditional bowlers’ musical honours and three cheers were given. The president then presented Mr H. B. Thomas, president of the Masterton Club, with the handsome Fred Davie Memorial Cup, which had been won by the latter’s club earlier in the season. This cup is to be played for 1 annually, and in accepting it, Mr Thomas expressed the hope that it would create some very friendly rivalry, and be a means of keeping in closer contact the two clubs of which the late Mr Davie was an honoured member.

A progressive pairs tourney will be held next weekend, and as large entries are expected, names should be placed on the notice board as soon as possible. A bowlers’ end of the season gathering will be held on May 1.
