One of the outstanding naval achievements of the war was related in London today by Captain G. W. G. Simpson, commander of the submarine flotilla based on Malta during the past two years. Submarines under his command sank half a million tons of shipping in that period, comprising 82 ships, of which twelve were warships and the remainder merchantmen, including six liners, usually laden with troops and stores going to Africa.
