GREYTOWN

LATE MR TROTMAN FUNERAL YESTERDAY .. AFTERNOON. (“Times-Age” Special.) The' funeral of the late Mr Edward Henry Trotman, of Greytown, took place yesterday afternoon, there being a representative attendance of district residents. The service at St. Luke’s Church and that at the cemetery were conducted by the Rev. J. C. Abbot. Wreaths were sent, besides others, by Court Wairarapa 5354 Independent Order of Foresters, the Mayor and Councillors, Greytown Borough Council, and the president, committee and members of the South Wairarapa Working Men’s Club. The pall-bearers were Messrs A. Ross, F. V. Kempton, H. G. Carter, W. G. K. Wiggins, G. Te Whaiti and I. Blisset. ST. LUKE’S CHURCH ANNUAL OF GUILD. The annual meeting of the St. Luke’s Church Ladies’ Guild was held in the Parish Hall yesterday afternoon. Mrs York presided over a large attendance of members. Mrs E. Williams was welcomed as a new member. Mrs York read a comprehensive annual report, and Mrs Smallwood presented a satisfactory balance sheet. Mrs Shedden complimented Mrs York on her report, and Mrs Rees endorsed her remarks. It was decided to pay off the £25 loan. Mrs Blissett gave a donation of £1 which was gratefully accepted. The Rev. J. C. Abbott took the chair for the election of officers which resulted as follows: —President, Mrs A.. York; vice-presidents, Mrs Rees and Miss Stephens; trustees, Mesdames Everett, Rees and Smallwood; secretary, Mrs T. N. Smallwood. . Mr Abbott thanked the Guild for their co-operation and good work throughout the year. Mrs Shedden offered to ring up those ladies who every month arrange flowers in the church. It was decided that a bazaar be held at the end of the year. The tea hostesses were Mesdames S. Shedden and D. Burch. TOWN HALL “HERE COMES MR JORDAN.” Tomorrow afternoon and evening there will be shown “Here Comes Mr Jordan,” an excellent comedy featuring Robert Montgomery, Claude Rains and Edward Everett Horton. A “March of Time” is also on the programme.
