OF ROYAL AIR FORCE BIRTHDAY DAYLIGHT ATTACKS ON GERMANY & OCCUPIED ■ TERRITORY. THE KING'S CONGRATULATIONS. This afternoon the R.A.F. marked its 25th anniversary by attacking enemy targets in ‘Western Germany, Belgium and France. ,„. .A.£ ' ■' i'(.? .'I &;1 p 'WSAdi Mosquitoes went for two places in the Rhineland, bombing railway works and yards. Railway targets were also attacked by planes of Fighter and Army Co-operation Command in offensive patrols over France and Belgium. The King, in a message to the R.A.F. today, referred to the clear ascendancy the R.A.F. had gained over the enemy in co-operation with the Dominions and Allies. This ascendancy is indicated in the March figures of aircraft losses. The Germans lost 60 planes over Britain for the loss of only one British plane. Over Europe the R.A.F. and American Air Force lost 409 aircraft against the Luftwaffe’s 130. The Allied planes made thousands of sorties, often penetrating deep into enemy territory, but the enmy rarely penetrated beyond the coastal area of Britain. One of these sneak raids was made on the south coast today and the bombs dropped caused a small number of casualties.
