A.I.F. NINTH DIVISION MARCH THROUGH STREETS OF MELBOURNE. MANY CASES OF COLLAPSE AMONG SPECTATORS. (By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright) (Received This Day, Noon:) MELBOURNE, This Day. A record Melbourne crowd welcomed back the men of the Ninth Division in the biggest march of A.I.F. men any Australian city has yet seen. Girls broke into the ranks of the marching men to throw their arms about their returning sweethearts. First aid men treated about 160 cases of collapse among the spectators. At a public reception to the G.O.C. of the Ninth Division, General Morshead, the G.O.C. of the Allied Land Forces in Australia, General Sir T. Blarney, said: “Rommel’s days in Africa will soon be over. Rommel is a man of the greatest vigour and force of character. He has a bullying and dominating temperament, but he lacks the prime requisite of command. He cannot stand away and watch the fortunes of a battle change and yet retain his position of control. As soon as that was discovered and worked on, Rommel was beaten.” In Brisbane this week a quarter of a million people saw a parade of Ninth Divisional troops.
