Burr, formerly of Masterton, was the occasion of an enjoyable party held in the Masonic Hall, Pahiatua, on Saturday night. Some 60 guests were present, coming from Wellington, Masterton, Palmerston North- and Colyton. A pleasant social evening was held in Mr F. Garland’s barn, Nursery Road, to farewell Mr L. McKenzie. A large crowd of friends and relatives assembled and dancing, songs and recitations were enjoyed during the evening. Excellent music, supplied by Mrs Mason (piano) and by Mr McKay (accordion) was very much appreciated. Mr R. Grant presented Mr McKenzie with a well-filled wallet. Supper was supplied by the ladies and the evening was brought to a close by the singing of “He’s a Jolly Good Fellow” and “Auld Lang Syne.”
