MASTERTON CLUB SOCIAL GATHERING LAST NIQHT. PRESENTATION OF TROPHIES. The Masterton Swimming Club brought the season to a close with a social gathering last night at which the trophies won during the season were presented. The president, Mr H. E. Pither, presented trophies to the following winners:— H. M. Peacock Memorial Cup, junior girls’ championship: Miss B. McCormack; runner-up, Miss Y. Ihaka. H. M. Peacock Memorial Cup, junior boys’ championship: I. Reynolds; runner-up, M. Gleeson. F. Yule’s Cup, intermediate girls’ championship, Miss J. McCormack; J. Barnes’s Cup, intermediate boys’ championship, F. Sexton; H. E. Pither’s Cup, senior men’s championship, J. Barnes; club 100 yards breaststroke championship, D. Stewart Junr.; primary school championship - (Wilson. Cup), I. Reynolds; A. W. Hollings’s Cup, junior boys’ dive aggregate, M. Gleeson; V. McKeague’s Cup, junior girls’ dive aggregate, B. McCormack; G.; Sexton’s Cup, junior boys’ aggregate, M. Gleeson; junior girls’ aggregate, Miss M. Stewart; intermediate boys’ aggregate, D. Stewart;; intermediate girls’ aggregate, Miss J. Morris. It was announced that during the season F. Sexton won the 100 yards and 220 yards Wellington Provincial championships for intermediate boys, and the 100 yards Nelson championship for intermediate boys. M. Clay won the Wairarapa 50 yards championship; J. Barnes won the Wairarapa 100 yards backstroke championship, and a team, consisting of J. Barnes, M. Clay, F. Sexton and L. Wickens, won the 100 yards Wairarapa relay championship. MISS DONALD’S PUPILS CERTIFICATE WINNERS. The following pupils of Miss Elsie Donald, R.L.S.S. Diploma, were successful recently in gaining swimming and life-saving certificates: — Beginner’s certificate: Marilyn Thomas and Nola Burling (aged 5 years), Joan Dawson, Sandra Cook, Carol Noye and Graham Baker (aged 6. years), Trevor Minifie, Grant Coutts, Bridget White, Helen Donald, Alastair Deanse, Owen Williams, David Lindsey, Kenneth Bull, Rex Harrington, David Tulloch, Anne Einam (Christchurch), Betty Evans and Ann Harkness. Learner’s Certificate; Alison Hill, Rae Logan, Jennifer Day, Veronica Evans (Auckland), Ngaire Welch, Judith Hill, Jane White, Michael Maxwell and Dale Noye. Proficiency certificate: Ann Brown, Rhonda Brown, Jocelyn Heath, Marian Minifie and John McDougall. Certificate of merit: Helen Cuningham, Nancy Day, Nita McKenzie and John Renner. Life-saving certificate: -Betty Leek (Wellington), Norma Shaw, Jennifer Day, Veronica Evans, Alison Hill and Dale Noye.
