E-BOAT DESTROYED
AND OTHERS DAMAGED BY BRITISH MOTOR CRAFT & DESTROYERS. ACTIONS OFF EAST COAST OF ENGLAND. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 11.50 a.m.) RUGBY, March 29. An Admiralty communique states: “Early this morning light coastal forces intercepted a number of enemy Eboats off the east coast of England. Two motor gunboats engaged five of the enemy with gunfire, and, following several hits, the second boat of the enemy line blew up. Wreckage was thrown aboard one of our vessels while it proceeded to ram the leading E-boat. The E-boat heeled over to 45 degrees and part of hex- stern was seen to break away.“Meanwhile another gunboat inflicted serious damage on the fourth boat of the enemy line. Later our forces succeeded in making a second attack and seriously damaged the last boat of the enemy line. “Hits were also scored on. another group of E-boats, but in the darkness it was impossible to observe the full results of this action. ! “During the night, destroyers patrolling in the same area also scored a number of hits on several E-boats. Our forces suffered no casualties and only one gunboat suffered slight damage.
