FORMATION OF DISTRICT BOARD. MEETING IN MASTERTON NEXT MONTH. Stressing the need for the formation of a rabbit board in the district to control the rabbit pest, Mr. Alan Keir urged farmers and all interested to attend a meeting to be held in Masterton on April 7. At the meeting, he said, steps would be taken to set up a provisional committee, with the formation of a board in view. Mr. Keir said the rabbit pest was bad here and he hoped that a board would be formed. The board would have the powers of a local body and could strike a rate. The Government would give a £1 for £1 subsidy. Mr. Keir, in urging farmers to attend, said that after a board was set up it would be too late to “squeal.’
