VETERINARY SERVICE
« PROPOSED EXTENSION. COMMENDED BY FARMERS’ UNION. “A School of Veterinary Science in New Zealand is long overdue.” said Mr R. E. Chamberlain at today’s meeting of the Wairarapa executive of the Farmers’ Union. Mr. Chamberlain reported on steps which had been taken to have the present veterinary service extended. He said a meeting of dairy companies would be held in Carterton on April 15 to take further steps in the matter. Messrs. Chamberlain and R. W. Kebbell were appointed to represent the Farmers’ Union at the meeting. Mr. E. T. Bliss said the scheme was going ahead satisfactorily. Mr. W. Heckler observed that inoculation could give up to 100 per cent, results in immunising calves from abortion and mamnritis. He said it was great news to the farmers to know that such an advance had been made. Mr. R. W. Beu (Greytown) said the service would become available to all farmers. At present it was confined to those farmers who had supplied the Dairy Board with data over the past few years. Mr. Hugh Morrison (president) congratulated those concerned on the progress made.
