BY THE SPRING THAW Operations on Eastern Front LULL EXTENDS TO DONETZ AREA INTENSE AIR ACTIVITY ON BOTH SIDES i LONDON, March 28. The Russian spring thaw appears to have put a stop to any large-scale operations for the time being. i On the central front the Red Army is busy improving its positions and getting its railway supply lines ready for the time when campaigning weather returns. The lull extends to the battlefront in the Donetz, where there has been a flare-up in air activity. Both sides have been doing a great deal of bombing. The Germans have brought up a number of fighters to meet the attacks of Russian planes.
