OBITUARY
MR HERBERT REGINALD BAGGE. Many Masterton residents will regret to hear of the death at Maxwell Road, Blenheim, of Mr H. R. Bagge, a dentist of that town, and an apprentice of the late Mr Moffitt, at one time a dentist in Masterton. Mr Bagge, who was the youngest son of Masterton’s first postmaster, the late Mr William Bagge, was interested in many juvenile enterprises, being among other things secretary of the old Excelsior Cricket Club, a member of the Oriental Football Club, and incidentally the original secretary of the old St. Matthew’s Church Boys Club. The late Mr Bagge was about 70 years of age. Mr Bagge’s stepmother was one of Nelson’s firstborn children and a sister of one of New Zealand’s very early missionaries, her daughter, Miss Muriel Bagge, being a schoolteacher in this district until she was transferred recently. The old post office building of those days is today’s Central School museum. The late Mr Bagge was interred in Omaka Cemetery on Sunday. His wife predeceased him about a year ago.
