SOME ADVANCES
MADE BY EIGHTH ARMY INFANTRY THIRTEEN ENEMY AIRCRAFT destroyed. AGAINST LOSS OF SIX ALLIED PLANES. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 10.0 a.m.) RUGBY, March 26. A North African communique states: “Our infantry in the Eighth Army area have made some advances and improved their positi°'Therß has been a little activity in the Gafsa and Maknassi sectors, where the enemy made local demonstrations, but no major attack developed. “In the northern sector, increased enemy activity was observed. Our patrols were active and inflicted casualties on an enemy Pa “On" Wednesday night bombers attacked an enemy airfield and motor transport near Sfax and Sousse. Yesterday our aircraft maintained attacks on airfields, docks, barges, vehicles and other targets. Enemy aircraft were more active yesterday. In the course of many combats, thirteen enemy aircraft were destroyed. From all operations six of our planes are missing.”
