Mrs Wilson, who has been staying with Mr and Mrs N. H. James, Pownall Street, Masterton, has returned to Auckland. The death has occurred in Wellington of Mr Frederick James Jones, M.V.0., 1.5.0., M.lnst.C.E., formerly chairman of the Government Railways Board of Management. The death occurred last Wednesday in a private hospital in Wellington of Lady Catherine Mary, wife of the tenth Baron Clifford of Chudleigh. Some 57 years ago she married Lord Clifford, by whom she is survived, and who was at one time a well-known pastoralist in the Marlborough district. Lord Clifford is famous as the discoverer of the Clifford Colour Rays. The funeral of the late Mrs M. J. Hanley took place in Masterton this morning, there being a large and representative attendance of mourners. Requiem Mass was celebrated at St Patrick’s Church by the Rev Father N. Moore and the Rev Dr Gilhooley conducted the service at the cemetery. Included among a large number of beautiful wreaths were those from the following: Domestic staff and porters, Masterton Hospital; custodian and staff, Masterton Park; Wairarapa Coursing Club, staff of Wairarapa Power Board, board members of Wairarapa Power Board, Masterton Hospital inquiry staff, staff of Wairarapa Hospital Board, Regent Lounge. The pallbearers were Messrs L. Pearson, E. Hanley, J. Hanley and T. B. Braggins. Advice has been received from New York of the death there of Mr Reynolds Denniston, a well-known actor. He was the eldest son of the late Mr G. L. Denniston, of Dunedin, and a nephew of the late Mr Justice, Denniston. He served in the South African War and after that war took up the stage as a profession. He returned to New Zealand in 1907 as a member of the company headed by Mr. Julius Knight, and was here again in 1909 with the same organisation. Later he formed a partnership with Mr Harry Plimmer, another New Zealand actor, and toured New Zealand at the end of 1910. About the end of the last world war, Mr Denniston went to America.
