TIRAUMEA

ENJOYABLE DANCE SOLDIERS ENTERTAINED. (“Times-Age” Special.) A dance was held on Monday evening in the local hall in honour of Private Rupert Robbie. There was a very representative gathering of residents, as well as visitors from Pongaroa, Eketahuna, Alfredton and Rakaunui. At a suitable interval, Mr S. Raleigh, chairman of the Patriotic Committee, asked Private Robbie to accept a cheque from the residents of the district. and wished him the best of luck. Private Robbie suitably replied. Dancing was kept going by Mr Barker, M.C., to music supplied by Mesdames Geof. Houlbrooke, Liverton, Bowering, McDonald, Nelson, Richardson, Miss Edmonds and Mr Barker. RED CROSS SOCIETY DANCE AND CARD PARTY. The local branch of the Red Cross Society held a very successful card party and dance recently. The card prizes were won by Mrs Reg. Houlbrooke and Mr Duncan, the consolation prizes going to Mrs Hart and Mr Darlington. A parcel of groceries was won by Miss Maureen Barker. Supper was provided. Personal Items. Private and Mrs Rupert Robbie and Mrs Robbie Senr., have been the guests of Mr and Mrs Olsen, Haunui. Mr H, Stimpson is staying with Mrs H. Seymour. Mrs Curtis has returned from a visit to Wellington.
