DENOUNCED BY OFFICIAL COMMENTATOR. “DO NOT UNDERSTAND MEANING OF WAR.” LONDON, March 24. The German authorities are obviously concerned by the extent of grumbling in the country. “The working man in Britain works harder than his counterpart in Germany,” declared a Berlin radio commentator denouncing grumblers. “Many persons in Germany ask themselves whether there is any sense left in the war. The longer the war lasts the more we all feel it. “There are many towns in Germany which have experienced more than 500 air-raid alarms, and some which have not experienced a single alert. There are optimists and pessimists in
Germany. We are pleased with the first and despise the second. Some people are more concerned with personal losses than the war as a whole. There are many claiming to be critical and impartial, but they do not understand the meaning of the war.”
