DEMOCRATIC IDEALS

AFFIRMED IN DANISH ELECTIONS. ANTI-NAZI COALITION GAINS SEATS. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) (Received This Day, 10.20 a.m.) STOCKHOLM, March 24. The Danish National Union bloc, representing five major parties, won 140 of the 144 seats in the Lower House in Parliamentary elections yesterday, gaining three seats over those held in the last Parliament. The coalition, is known to have the approval of King Christian. The Nazi Party held its three seats, but the Peasants’ Party, which is a Nazi-supporting party, lost two out of four seats. Reuter's diplomatic correspondent comments that this was the only Parliamentary election in Europe, except in Iceland, since the outbreak of war. It yielded an overwhelming majority for the democratic ideal, in the teeth of German occupation.
