According to a report from the Patriotic Committee, John Bull has received such good support from his many Scottish friends that he hesitates to publish this effort which appeared in this morning’s mail bag:— Scots wha hae ye Jocks and Jacks Ye’ll no’ be beat by Sassenachs Dinna fash the income tax Its chains and slavery Now’s the day and now’s the hour Our boys are putting forth their power Gie three pun or better fower To help to victorie Wha on hearing John Bull's ca’ A nice fat cheque will kindly draw By him we stand —by him we fa’ That’s real sympathy By oppressions, woes and pains For our sons on Afric’s plains We will drain our dearest veins In fact we'll write a cheque.
