PARK CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP GAMES. PROGRESSIVE PAIRS TOURNEY. On Saturday the various championship games were advanced anothei stage. The green was fast. During the week the club was favoured by a visit from Mr Crawford, of Wellington, and were given advice on top-dressing and sowing. A large number of servicemen, including U.S. Marines, has enjoyed a roll up during the past few weeks. Results of games:-—Champion singles: H. Smith beat A. Faulknor, 17/16 after a very evenly contested game. Smith will now meet Kilgour, and the winner will play R. Simpson in the final. Champion pairs: E. Brown and H Smith beat Trevorrow and Simpson 29/9. In the second half Smith scored freely, the game ending on the 20th end. Brown and Smith will now meet Duckworth and Jenkins in the final. Handicap singles: E. Brown beai Trevorrow 17/15. Brown was one up on the board on the 20th end, and Trevorrow was lying 3 up on the fina: end until Brown trailed the jack tc lie one up. E. Brown will now meei his son, G. Brown, in the semi-final the winner to play A. Osborne in the final. G. Brown beat Spackman 26/6 Osborne beat Simpson, 19/14. Both players gave good displays, the heads altering after practically every bow. played. Colts’ singles: Rossiter beat White 21/16. Kealey medals: Garard and Shearer, who played splendid bowls, easily staved off a challenge from Griffiths and H Smith by 20/10. Ferns: Moore and Kilgour become the new holders after defeating Brickley and Shearer, 27/11. Kilgour scored 13 before Shearer started, but Shearer had reduced the lead to 6 on the 11th end. A United Nations’ team consisting of Buster, Duncan, Shippey, Attwood (s) defeated a Park team, McCord, Moore, H. Dixon, Kilgour’ (s) 22/15. Another very successful progressive pairs tourney was played during the weekend, and drew an entry of 32 players. The tea arrangements were once again in the capable hands of Mrs C. Andrews. The trophies once agair changed hands. Results are:—Skips Trevorrow 3J wins, 58 points, winner Three wins, Shearer (47), Simpsor (53), Leigh (58); 2| wins, Carr (51), G Brown (41), F. Dixon (34); 2 wins, Andrews, Carstens. Leads: Heath, 4 wins 58 points, winner. Three and a hal: wins: Anstice (60), Moore (48); 3 wins
Griffiths (59), Edwards (43); 2| wins, Drummond (48); 2 wins, Maxted, Wise, H. Dixon, Shippey. MASTERTON CLUB CHAMPION FOURS CONTEST. The Masterton Bowling Club’s champion fours contest was concluded on Saturday, the results being:— Semi-finals: J. Russell, Kennedy, Mills, W. Reid (s) beat W. Russell, Hayne, H. Thompson, 0. Jones (s); Davies (sub.), D. Thomson, Stewart, „■ Freeman (s) beat Thomas, Skeet, Hunter, Christian (s). Final: Freeman (s)beatW. Reid (s).
