GARDEN PARTY
- V AT ST. PATRICK’S SCHOOL GROUNDS. COMPETITION WINNERS. A most successful garden party was held at the St. Patrick’s Hall and grounds, Masterton, on Saturday afteinoon. The gathering was favoured with beautifully fine weather, and there was a large attendance. The official opening was performed by the member for Masterton, Mr J. Robertson, who was accompanied by Mrs Robertson. A Marine Corps band gave a splendid musical programme, which was heartily applauded. The following ladies were in charge of the stalls, and were assisted by an energetic and capable band of assist- ) ants: .Produce, Mrs Talbot; sweets and afternoon tea, Mrs Cairns; fancy, Mrs Turnbull. Several entries were received for a baby show, and the judges, Mesdames F. Walker and W. Heath, were faced with a difficult task. They ' made awards as follows: —Under 6 months, Baby Cunningham; 6 to 12 months, boy, Baby McCracken; girl, Baby Marsh. The winners of competitions were:— R. J. Crothers, Mrs Thurston, M. Cummings, Mrs Doyle (Konini), Mr Kilminster (Queen Street), E. Rockell, Mrs Lenz (Queen Street), M. Wilton (Cole Street), Maureen Cairns, W. L. Hunter,. M. F. Cunningham (Walton’s Avenue), Mrs Naan, Mrs W. Heath, Mrs White (Casel Street), Mrs Bell (Cornwall Street), Steve Ruane (2), Mrs Voice (Walton’s Avenu), Miss Sullivan (Perry Street), Steve Disco (Greytown), Mrs Andrews, Mrs Tobin, Mrs Kilminster, Father Moore, Mrs Angus Scott, Mr Cairns (Walton’s Avenue), Pat Saunders, Mrs O’Dowd (South Road), Mrs McCalmont,
