BRITISH DAYLIGHT RAID ON HOLLAND TWO AXIS FIGHTERS DESTROYED SINGLE PLANE BOMBS TOWN IN ENGLAND. CASUALTIES IN GIRLS’ HOSTEL. LONDON, March 18. R.A.F. Venturas, escorted by Spitfires, attacked targets near Rotterdam this afternoon. Some enemy fighters came up and two were destroyed by the British fighters, none of which are missing. Just before dawn a single German raider circled over, the land and dropped bombs on a coastal town in England as it flew out to sea. One bomb hit a girls’ hostel and the building was completely demolished. Five girls were killed and 12 were seriously injured. This afternoon three enemy fighters appeared on the south coast and bombs were dropped at one place. There were no casualties or damage.
