CONCERT AND DANCE
CELEBRATION OF ST. PATRICK’S DAY. There was a large and appreciative audience at a concert presented by the pupils of St. Bride’s Convent and St. Patrick’s School, held in Masterton last night. The concert items were of a uniformly high standard, and the generous applause given by the audience was well merited. Following the concert, an enjoyable dance was held. The music was provided by Messrs A. Barnes and W. Ashworth, and Ben Gollop, of the United States Marine Corps, was an efficient M.C. Supper was served by a ladies’ committee. Following were the items of the concert programme: —Songs, “God Save Ireland” and “Derry Vale,” senior choir; eight-hand reel, senior girls; verse-speaking, “At the Tabernacle,” junior school; songs, “The Rose of Tralee” and “The Snow-breasted Pearl,” St. Patrick’s Choir; recitation, “Do I Remember Ireland ” Margaret Hoar; songs, “Cockles and Mussels” and “Come Back to Erin,” junior choir; verse-speaking, “St. Patrick and the Shamrock.” St. Brigid’s School; song, “Eileen O’Hea.”
