Word lias been received that Pilot Officer Stuart Keith, formerly on the staff of the National Bank at Masterton, has been promoted to the rank of Flying Officer as from October last. The death has occurred at Christchurch of Mr W. J. Morland,. aged 72. Mr Morland was for many years associated with the trotting sport. He won the New Zealand Trotting Cup in 1915 with Country Bell, and since then he had bred a number of winners at his stud. A well-known medical practitioner in Wanganui, Dr Howard Henry Christie, died yesterday after a short illness. He was born in Wanganui and was a son of the late Mr H. F. Christie, former bank manager in Patea and at one time a resident of Masterton. Dr Christie attended Wanganui Collegiate School from 1895 till 1900, and was president of the Old Boys’ Association from 1926 till 1928. He took his degrees at Glasgow and Edinburgh. During the war of 1914-18 he served in the New Zealand Medical Corps.
