PARK DAMAGE
APPLICATION FOR REWARD. REFERRED TO SOLICITOR FOR OPINION. An application for £lO reward for supplying information which resulted in the conviction of a person for the theft of bulbs from the Park was received from a Masterton resident at last night’s meeting of the Masterton Borough Council. It was decided not to pay the reward until the opinion of the council’s solicitors had been obtained. The chairman of the Park Committee, Councillor G. D. Wilson, said the reward should not be paid unless the council was legally liable. He said he had reasons’ for that view. Councillor W. Kemp: “Notice boards in the park offer a reward.” Councilloi’ C. E. Grey said the council should know the facts. After a further statement by Councillor Wilson, the council came to the decision stated.
