At St. Peter’s Church, Cambridge, recently, Doreen Margaret, elder' daughter of Mr and Mrs G. Lowell, Featherston, was married to Second Lieutenant James Robertson, elder son of Mr and Mrs F. S. Day, Maungatautari, Cambridge. The church was beautifully decorated with flowers by Sister Hugh. The bride, who was escorted by her father, made a charming picture as she entered the church wearing a beautiful slim-fitting gown of “bridal dream” satin, with heart-shaped neckline and gathered bodice. The skirt fell from a diamond-shaped inset at the waist, and finished in a very full train, featuring applique work that Was carried out in the full sleeves which tapered to a point over the hand. The lovely tulle veil was loaned by a cousin of the bride, who carried a sheaf of lilies, roses and carnations and was attended by her sister, Miss Alina Lowell and Miss Sheila (Robin) Douglas, and a flowergirl, Gabrielle Garland. The bridesmaids’ frocks, which were of shell pink and pastel blue georgette, respectively, were made alike with a gathered bodice and shirred waist. They wore matching halo caps of net trimmed with silver ribbon and carried shower bouquets of roses and carnations. The flower girl’s frock was of lemon georgette, and she carried a peiod basket of rose petals. Mr Jack Budge was best man and Private Cliff Thompson was groomsman. During the signing of the register, Miss Jean McLeod sang “Ave Marla." A reception Was later held at the Mauhgatautari Hall. Mrs Lowell, attired in a London tan costume and matching accessories, received the guests, assisted by Mrs Day, who wore a navy and white ensemble with hat to match. An interesting feature of the reception was a special toast for the “Three Fighting Services,” in which mention was made of the Scottish Regiment, which the bridegroom was shortly rejoining.
