“DESERT VICTORY”

ROUT OF ROMMEL’S FORCES BY EIGHTH ARMY. MOTION PICTURE SHOWN AT WHITE HOUSE. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) (Received This Day. 10.30 a.m.) RUGBY, March 15. It was stated at the White House today that President Roosevelt was very much impressed with the motion picture “Desert Victory,” showing phases of the British Eighth Army’s rout of Rommel’s forces in the Libyan desert. The film arrived from London last night and was shown to President and Mrs Roosevelt when Mr Anthony Eden and others were guests at the White House. The film was accompanied by a note from Mr Winston Churchill. Another message states that the film “Desert Victory” was sent by Mr Churchill as a gift to President Roosevelt.' In his note the British Prime Minister said the President would be interested in the pictures of American tanks in action. He stated also that he was making an excellent recovery and hoped soon to resume full working activity.
