ST. JOHN AMBULANCE

ENJOYABLE DANCE. IN AID OF SOLDIERS’ PARCEL FUND. The St John Ambulance Brigade held a successful dance in the Masonic Hall on Saturday, night, the proceeds from which are to be devoted to the purchase of parcels for members of the brigade serving overseas. The music was supplied by Mr Jack Barnes and his Rhythm Boys, and the duties of M.C. were efficiently carried out by Mr C. S. McQuade (Cadet Superintendent) . A Monte Carlo waltz competition was won by Miss A. Schormann and Mr A. Ludemann and a lucky spot one step by Miss C. Egan and Aircraftman W. Wrack. Extras were played by Miss L. Hopkins and Mr W. Ranidra. A much appreciated vocal item was rendered by the three Thorne brothers. Mr McQuade, in thanking patrons for their attendance, stated that it was very gratifying to see such a-large number present, particularly ias the proceeds from the dance were to be devoted to the purchase of parcels for members of the brigade now serving overseas. He particularly thanked the ladies’ committee for the excellent supper they had provided. He stated that this small group of voluntary workers were always on the spot and were not only responsible for the dances but the preparation and despatch of all parcels as well. He concluded by announcing that the 1 next dance would be held on March 27.
