GENERAL ELECTION
LIKELY IN SOUTH AFRICA THIS YEAR. ANNOUNCEMENT BY GENERAL SMUTS. (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, March 12. The Prime Minister (General Smuts) announced in the Assembly today that, unless special circumstances demanded, no special legislation extending the life of the present Parliament would be introduced, states a Cape Town message. A general election therefore will take place this year.
