HOMING PIGEONS
MASTERTON CLUB. RACE FROM WAIROA. The Masterton Homing Pigeon Club held a race on Saturday from Wairba, an airline distance of 165 miles. The weather conditions for flying were good and all the birds liberated reached home on the day. The' following were the placings: W. J. Miller’s Night Ideal (time, 4hrs. 29mins. 35secs.), 1; L. Wickens’s Doubtful Lad (4hrs. 29mins. 50secs.), 2; A. Pinkney’s Scottie (4hrs. 30mins. lOsecs.), 3; W. J. Miller's Night Light (4hrs. 30mins. 25secs.), 4; R. Stewart and Son’s Petone Pride (4hrs. 31mins. 40secs.), 5; N. Gardner’s Blue Glory (4hrs. 32mins. 52secs.), 6. ■ The next race will be from Napier, an airline distance of 120 miles. The following are the positions in the points prize contest: —R. Stewart and Sons, 31 points, 1; Grant and Forrester, 27 points, 2; L. Wickens, 19 points, 3.
