MINISTER FAREWELLED
REV H. S. KINGS, OF MASTERTON METHODIST CHURCH. t> SEVERAL PRESENTATIONS MADE The Rev H. S. Kings, Chaplain to the Forces, preached his farewell sermon to a large congregation at the Methodist Church, Masterton, last night. Mr Kings took as his subject “The Unfinished Task.” After church an adjournment was made to the Sunday School hall, where Mr F. G. Rutter presided at a farewell gathering. The Rev D. McNeur, on behalf of the Masterton Ministers’ Association, spoke of the high esteem in which Mr and Mrs Kings were held. On behalf of the association he presented Mr Kings with a bookMiss D. Jamieson, spoke for the Young Women’s Bible Class executive and presented Mrs Kings with a gift as a token of esteem. Miss V. Jackson said a few words for the Ladies’ Guild and the Women’s Missionary Auxiliary. On behalf of the ladies, she presented Mrs Kings with a cheque. Mr C. D. Shoosmith spoke on behalf of the Sunday Schobl. Speaking on behalf of the church, Mr E. M. Hodder paid tribute to the service rendered by Mr and Mrs Kings and expressed regret that they were leaving Masterton. He made the presentation of a wallet and a cheque. Mr and Mrs Kings were given musical honours. Mr and, Mrs Kings returned thanks for the gifts and the sentiments accompanying them. The meeting closed with prayer and the Benediction was pronounced by Mr F. H. Parker, following which a social hour was held and the ladies of the church served supper.
