VISITING WASHINGTON

BRITISH FOREIGN SECRETARY TO DISCUSS POST-WAR POLICY. SOVIET AMBASSADOR LIKELY , TO PARTICIPATE. LONDON, March 12. The Foreign Secretary (Mr Anthony Eden) has arrived in Washington at the invitation of the United States Government. The purpose of Mr Eden’s visit, says an ’Official statement, is to undertake an exchange of views with the United States Government on all aspects of the war situation. Mr Eden will also discuss with the United States Government the most effective method of arranging for a meeting of representatives of all the United Nations to discuss questions arising out of the war. This is Mr Eden’s first visit to the United States since the war began. Among the members of his party is Mr William Strang, head of the section of the Foreign Office which deals with matters relative to France and the French colonies. Mr Eden was to have made his visit to Washington three weeks ago, but it had Jo be postponed on account of Mr Churchill’s illness. The visit is regarded in Washington as a natural sequel to the Casablanca conference. Post-war policy will loom large in the impending conversations and it is expected that the Soviet Ambassador to the United States (M. Litvinov) will be invited to take part. Mr Eden probably will visit Canada, to consult with members of the Dominion Cabinet.
